Dust may seem like a very simple job that doesn't need to be made easier, but many people don't dust very efficiently. It can be difficult to sweep dust everywhere that needs to be cleaned and actually get rid of the dust, instead of moving it from one place to another.
1. Use Better Tools
To get started, you should use suitable dusters, such as a wet cloth, not feather dust or other similar dust brush. Here is a quick list of tools you have when you start working with dust. It is not recommended to use any brush tool for dusting, as they tend to simply disperse the dust into the air rather than collecting and removing dust. Wet (slightly damp) fabrics collect dust and keep it from airborne. Feather dusters may have been dust cleaning tools for generations, but we now know this better. Stop clogging the air and spreading dust particles by switching off the vacuum cleaner for a damp cloth.
2. Clean The Vents
One part of the house that is probably not cleaned enough is the ventilation system. You should clean and replace your air filter according to the manufacturer's specifications. How many of us do this often enough? You also want to clean your vents regularly. This can mean removing and sweeping the ventilation covers as well as hiring someone to clean the entire ventilation system once or twice a year. This keeps the dust around the house and makes the air cleaner for easier and healthier breathing.
3. Dust In The Right Direction
When sweeping the dust, start with the highest objects and move to the lowest. If you do not, you will have to repeat your work. Another good thing to keep in mind is to work in a spiral configuration - working clockwise secures all four corners and slats, then move down and wipe all the tops of the frames (doors and art, etc.), then lower again to dust all the table tops and finally all the baseboards. Then vacuum last. This prevents dust from falling on the already cleaned area.
4. Pack on the shelves less
Another quick cleaning tip that will really help you out is if you put less on the surfaces you plan to clean. Tables, desks, shelves and other areas that need regular cleaning should not be tightly packed with pins and other items. This can make it difficult to dust them properly and can be a storer for quick dust accumulation. By spreading these items and freeing up space on dust-generating surfaces, you need to do less work to generate dust. You can do one clean cleaning instead of weaving around and in on objects on every surface. You spend less time washing the dust and do a better job of cleaning the dust.
5. Dust one room at a time
Our last tip is to keep yourself tidy by tidying up the dust. Start in one room and wipe it completely free of dust before moving on to the next room. This prevents missing places and helps in cleaning up the feeling of cleaning over and over again.
